The falling plates event is one of the challenges at the All Army Shooting Competitions.
Members of the Defence Forces take part in the All Army Shooting Competitions at Kilworth Camp in County Cork. The Chief of Staff Major General Thomas O'Carroll, was among those who watched the shooting tests at the ranges. He later presented the prizes to the winning teams and individual marksmen. Champions of the falling plates competition, one of the event's highlights, are the 1st Motor Squadron, Fermoy. Western Command won the pistol and Gustav team events while teams from Mullingar, and the Southern Command won the best marksmen and combined weapons team competitions.
