John Rocha introduces his latest range of designs with clothes for women and men.
The Hong Kong born designer John Rocha has called his latest collection called 'Dóchas' (the word for 'hope' as Gaeilge). This latest range has been received to wide acclaim following a launch at London Fashion Week, and will be stocked by Harvey Nichols, Harrods and Liberty.
The garments modelled for the 'Kenny Live' audience are a sample from the Dóchas collection for woman and men. This collection has been inspired by traditional Irish colours and uses textiles made in Ireland but keeps,
A contemporary look about it.
John Rocha says he does not design clothes with any particular age group in mind,
It's more your spirit.
He also admits to not trying to please everyone. His design process starts with traditional concepts of clothing and then moves towards more contemporary looks.
Having moved to Ireland in 1978 John Rocha established his Chinatown label here. When the business folded in the late 1980s he relocated to Milan and started to manufacture his upmarket John Rocha line from the Italian fashion capital.
This latest John Rocha range has been developed in collaboration with the A-Wear group, who are part of the same consortium as Brown Thomas. At present all of his garments are made in Ireland,
We keep about one hundred and fifty people working.
This episode of 'Kenny Live’ was broadcast on 13 March 1993. The presenter is Pat Kenny.
