The marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton was watched by many television viewers in Ireland.

Millions of people across the world have been watching the British royal wedding taking place in London.

One group of neighbours in Sandyford, County Dublin, took the morning off work to gather in the home of Jackie O'Donovan for a royal wedding tea party. Those who had to come into work watched it in conference rooms, like one group of doctors in Kerry.

The television was switched off in Olivia Hanevy’s house in Tallaght, as she was too busy getting ready for her own wedding which was booked a year and a half ago. For her mother Olive there is only one person in the spotlight today,

This is our princess.

William, Prince of Wales, will now be known as Baron Carrickfergus. In the County Antrim town another royal wedding gathering has been taking place, with all present enjoying the pomp and ceremony. One lady describes the event as

Lovely, that was really nice.
