The pandemic lockdown provided an artist with inspiration to paint portraits of a coastal community.

Artist Robin Grundy decided to take photographs of people she met within her 5 km radius during a COVID-19 lockdown, she later painted theses images as portraits.

A longtime resident of the Cahore Ballygarret area in Wexford, Robin Adames, is one of the locals featured in the portrait exhibition by Robin Grundy, who is originally from Canada.

The artist explains how she chose the subjects for her work.

Some of the people I knew and some I didn't know at all.

Among the people she has painted are the local postman, a shop assistant and Laura Larkin, who was about six months pregnant at the time. For Laura, the portrait has immortalised that strange period of lockdown.

The paintings are now on display at The Strand Bar in Cahore and visible through the glass windows while hospitality restrictions continue. Publican, Patrick Hanley, says that hundreds of people pass the bar on a daily basis and are now stopping to take a look at the exhibition.
