The Bodytonic music collective hold the Beatyard Weekender, a four day festival held across two Dublin venues.
From 28 April to 1 May 2011, the Bodytonic music collective hold the third Beatyard festival over two venues, the Twisted Pepper club in Dublin city centre and the Bernard Shaw pub in Portobello. The Beatyard Weekender caters mainly for electronic music fans but also includes visual arts, comedy and a bookshop.
The Twisted Pepper manager Eoin Cregan describes Beatyard as,
A mini festival weekender.
The Bernard Shaw manager, John Mahon, thinks the festival is a classic Bodytonic invention as
It's just an excuse for a party.
Bodytonic's Trevor O'Shea explains that as the week of the festival looms,
The buzz has been created, the people know it's on.
At this point, the focus is on production, making sure the sound is perfect, and creating unity across the two venues with bunting and signage.
Rob Brown is the owner and operator of the Loft Bookshop at the Twisted Pepper, a new venture for the venue. He is excited how one space can be used for multiple purposes.
It feels really interesting it feels like we're really doing something, really really different and really new.
Whether a gig is sold out or not, Eoin Cregan worries. The festival closing night at the Twister Pepper will be a highlight for him,
Another highlight will be me sleeping all day tomorrow.
Job satisfaction for John Mahon is seeing an event come off successfully after all the hard work,
And that's why I do it.
