A novel protest by students at the College of Music who give a performance on Grafton Street.

Students of the College of Music on Chatham Row in Dublin hold an impromptu concert at the top of Grafton Street to raise awareness of a strike which is having a disastrous effect on the education of more than 2,500 students.

The College of Music has been closed since 3 March 1976, when pickets were placed by the Teachers' Union of Ireland (TUI). The dispute concerns the appointment of people to the grade of assistant lecturer. There are 90 teachers in the College, but only 20 are permanent staff.

The closure of the College of Music is affecting Leaving and Intermediate Certificate students most acutely, as their exams are due shortly.
