Using card and crepe paper to create small birds.
In the 'Dilín Ó Deamhas' kitchen, two friends, Róisín and Caoimhe, help presenter Aidan O'Hara make small birds from card and crepe paper. Other items required to make the birds are scissors, colouring pencils, crayons and a stapler.
A bird shape is drawn on the card and carefully cut out. An incision is made along the bird's body to insert the wings. The wings and tail are made from crepe paper, folded into fans. These are fixed in position with a stapler.
Róisín needs some help stapling the wings and tail onto her cut-out shape. Aidan O'Hara makes sure to put them on correctly. He is impressed by the work she has put into colouring her creation.
Éan gorm atá ar Róisín.
Another bird, coloured red, leads Aidan O'Hara to surmise it is not a native species.

Some thread is attached to the finished items, so they can be hung up to fly, just like real birds.
