Work begins to electrify the Howth to Bray rail line in preparation for a new Dublin commuter service.

CIÉ's (Córas Iompair Éireann’s) electrification programme includes lowering the track between Dun Laoghaire and Sandycove, to allow bridge and tunnel clearance for overhead wires.

A revised train timetable will operate for three months.

The project is due to be complete in three years and promises to bring Dublin a faster more frequent commuter rail service. For now passenger must endure disruption as,
