Uilleann piper Tommy Reck was born in the Liberties area of Dublin in 1921. A revered piper for decades, his distinctive style is characterised by precise articulation and melodic variation.
Tommy Reck is one of the traditional Irish musicians scheduled to perform at the 'Ace and Deuce of Piping', the second annual concert organised by Na Píobairí Uilleann (Society of Irish Pipers). Presented by Iarla Ó Lionáird. The concert takes place in the National Concert Hall (NCH) on 6 October 1990.

'Cúrsaí' was an Irish language series which ran on RTÉ Television from 1986 to 1995. In its early days, Cúrsaí was billed as "iris-chlár le béim faoi leith ar chúrsaí reatha an lae agus ar chúrsaí na tíre i gcoitinne" (RTÉ Guide, 17 October 1986). But it covered a wide range of topics and was broadcast four nights a week, from Tuesday to Friday, on RTÉ 2.
