A blaze swept through a Traveller halting site in Carrickmines, resulting in death and desolation.
At 4.20 a.m., emergency services were alerted to a fire at a halting site in Carrickmines in south Dublin. Six units of the Dublin Fire Brigade responded to the blaze on Glenamuck Road South.
A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade said there had been several fatalities, with four people receiving treatment in hospital.
The scene is now subject to a Garda forensic investigation to establish how the fire started.
