Members of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra perform the Sunday Game theme tune in an empty Croke Park.

With no spectators, footballers or hurlers in Croke Park due to the COVID-19 restrictions, musicians have the GAA stadium to themselves. Members of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra dressed in their own county colours are in Croke Park for a special rendition of James Last's 'Jägerlatein', which has been used as the theme tune for 'The Sunday Game'.

With the outbreak of COVID-19 in spring 2020, restrictions were put in place, calling a halt to the GAA season.

The football and hurling inter county championship games resumed in October. The All Ireland finals were pushed out until December 2020. The hurling and football championships were both played as straight knockout competitions with no spectators.

The Sunday Game is the flagship RTÉ GAA television programme. It is broadcast on RTÉ every Sunday during the football championship and hurling championship season.

An RTÉ News report broadcast on 30 July 2020.
