At Croke Park final preparations are being made for the first of three U2 three sell out concerts.

At Croke Park in Dublin, construction work continues on the 60 metre wide, 28 metre high stage for three sold-out U2 Vertigo tour concerts. The stage is being constructed on Hill 16 to avoid damaging the pitch.

Production manager Jake Berry explains while the stage is a bit higher than usual, it is a sacrifice the band and production were willing to make,

To be in the right stadium, in the right city at the right time.

It is 20 years since U2 last played Croke Park. Manager Paul McGuinness believes the band are bigger and better than ever, but are nervous nonetheless. They feel extra pressure when playing Los Angeles, New York, London and Dublin.

Dublin is probably the most important of all those just in terms of wanting to do great.

Eighty thousand U2 fans will attend the first of the band's three Irish concerts. Diehard fans are already queuing outside Croke Park. For them, getting a position at the front of the stage is paramount,

It's the only place you can see Bono's eyes and what he feels while sings.

The opening acts for U2 are The Radiators and Snow Patrol.
