Belvedere House in Westmeath opens to the public after a complete renovation.
The refurbishment and renovation of Belvedere House was part of Westmeath Couty Council's millennium project. The newly restored Palladian mansion built by Robert Rochford in the 1800s is expected to attract over 30,000 visitors to the shores of Lough Ennell.
Manager of Belvedere House Catherine Magan points out some of the highlights of the renovation including the magnificent Rococo ceiling work. The world renowned gardens also received an upgrade and a new visitor centre was added to the estate.
Belvedere House and estate was formally reopened to the public by President Mary McAleese who pays tribute to everyone who had a part in the restoration.
