Parades from around Ireland on a wet and grey St Patrick's Day.

Marching bands led the procession of vehicles and floats for Saint Patrick's Day along the South Mall in Cork. Jack Lynch was among the dignitaries in the reviewing stand while crowds lined the streets in the hope of catching a glimpse.

In Belfast, where the St Patrick's Accordion Band paraded in the Duncairn area and the James Connolly group paraded from Hamill Street to Casement Park. Ahead of the Limerick parade, there were protests as hundreds of Cement Ltd workers from Limerick and Drogheda held a protest over pay.

In Kilkenny, the parade promoted by the Junior Chamber of Commerce and led by the St Patrick's Band included members of the Defence Forces, FCA, Knights of Malta and Boy Scouts. The Kilkenny Youth Theatre provided a reenactment of Cromwell's invasion of the city.
