The Georgian building where Padraig Pearse first set up Saint Enda's School opens to the public.

Patrick (Padraig) Pearse established St Enda's School at Cullenswood House in Ranelagh in 1908, to promote education through English and Irish.

Writer and journalist Victoria White explains that another famous figure from that era, Michael Collins was said to have hidden in the house during the War of Independence.

Two years after its foundation the school moved to Rathfarnham, and the Pearse family rented out the rooms. It was presented to the nation, but by the 1980s was in a state of disrepair.

A campaign by the local community and politicians saved the building from demolition, and now it is home to Gaelscoil Lios na nÓg.

Members of the public were joined by some of Padraig Pearse's surviving relatives for a tour of the fully refurbished house. The house seems to be filled with stories of ghosts and mythology.

Rumours of hidden doors and secret walls.

Actor Deirdre Donnelly lived in Cullenswood House with her family until she was ten years old. She has returned for what is an emotional visit.

A lot of ghosts, but good ones.
