Pantomime productions at theatres across the country will provide entertainment for all the family.

The pantomime season gets underway with productions of Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and Puss in Boots.

It's the annual feast of aahs and hoorahs, the good, the bad and the ugly sisters.

Saint Anthony's Theatre in Dublin and the Hawkswell Theatre in Sligo are putting on productions of Sleeping Beauty.

The Coolera Dramatic Society in Sligo has been putting on a pantomime for the past 21 years. Chairman Brian Devaney says that the panto is a community effort for the people in the region and is of huge interest to people of all ages.

In Cork, pantomime favourite Billa O'Connell is playing the dame in Aladdin at the Opera House. In Dublin, June Rogers is at the Gaiety Theatre in Jack and The Beanstalk.

At the Belltable Theatre in Limerick, rehearsals are underway for Beauty and the Beast which will take to the stage next month. Beauty and the Beast has already had a sell out limited run at the Theatre Royal in Waterford.

At the Olympia Theatre in Dublin, there is a production of 'Puss In Boots - The Cat's Tale' where Adele King (Twink) stars alongside Dustin the Turkey. Asked if he is looking forward to Christmas, Dustin responds,

Are you stupid or something? I'm a turkey.
