Winners presented with their awards for having the best kept gardens in Ireland.
Minister for Transport and Power, Peter Barry, presents Violet Bryan from Elsinore, Athy in County Kildare with the trophy ofr the overall winner of the 1974 National Gardens Competition.
The competition, organised by Bord Fáilte, is designed to find the best kept gardens in 15 various categories.
No award was made in the category covering "Industries" as the standard was considered to be too poor.
There was no awarded given for the category covering industries as the standard was considered to be poor.
