Lorry drivers block roads preventing access to and from the Sealink ferry in Dún Laoghaire.
A truck drivers' blockade at Dún Laoghaire in County Dublin threatens to halt car ferry traffic to and from the port. The truckers are members of the Irish Overseas Transport Association. Their blockade is due to the stranding of 125 of their colleagues in Britain due to a dockers strike.
In the morning some Sealink staff discovered one exit had been left unblocked and could be used to let cars out.
After police ensured a clear road most of the vehicles from the early arrival, the St Columba, got away fairly quickly.
However, passengers on the later arrival, the St David, are less fortunate. The blockade traps 42 cars on the ferry. The truckers remove their blockade when Sealink pledges to ship home the drivers and their cab units stranded in Holyhead and Fishguard.
