A Dublin Bus syndicate celebrates after winning £3 million in the National Lottery.
There were celebrations today in the Dublin Bus Maintenance Department in Donnybrook with the news that forty workers were going to receive a windfall courtesy of the National Lottery, to the tune of £75,000 each.
John Galvin has been responsible for collecting the syndicate's payments and purchasing the tickets. He also had the job of contacting his colleagues to tell them the good news,
They’re breaking down on the phone.
John Galvin's son John junior also works in Donnybrook Garage and is a member of the winning syndicate and describes the feeling as,
Unreal
Several former co-workers opted to remain in the syndicate after their retirement. Noel Walsh is one who is glad he continued to pay his subscription every week.
Now I can let it go.
Even those who were not in the syndicate wished their colleagues well,
I’m over the moon for the lads, delighted for them.
An open-topped bus took the group to the National Lottery headquarters on Abbey Street courtesy of Dublin Bus management.
