A Dublin company launches a new way to discourage thieves from stealing cars.

Over two thousand cars are stolen each year in Ireland and never recovered. Many are resold with number plates re-used from crashed cars.

Identiscreen is a vehicle protection system that etches the registration number of the car onto each window. The aim is to act as a deterrent to car thieves, who would have to replace all the car windows at a cost.

This system won't stop the joyrider, but it will stop the professional.

The company is registered with the Garda Crime Prevention Unit in Harcourt Street in Dublin. Joe Rungay of Identiscreen says,

The Gardaí are delighted with it.
