Billy McGuinness argues with Louis Walsh and Linda Martin over the way a song is chosen for the Eurovision Song Contest.
During a 'Eurosong 2014' special edition of ‘The Late Late Show’ Aslan guitarist Billy McGuinness, a mentor for act Laura O'Neill, expresses his dislike of the voting system to select the Irish song for the 59th Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen, Denmark.
From his seat in the audience, Billy McGuinness is contemptuous about Louis Walsh’s participation on the ‘Eurosong 2014’ panel.
If you want a level playing field, Louis Walsh should not be on that panel.
Billy McGuinness is annoyed that Louis Walsh has connections with two of the Eurosong hopefuls. He once managed Kasey Smith and he mentored contestant Eoghan Quigg on the ‘X Factor’.
Billy McGuinness is also furious that One Direction singer Niall Horan asked his 17 million Twitter followers to vote for Eurosong act Eoghan Quigg.
Following Laura O'Neill’s performance of ‘You Don't Remember Me’, panellist Linda Martin speaks in defence of Louis Walsh. Addressing Billy McGuinness directly, she declares,
You are an odious little man.

Alluding to Linda Martin’s connection to Louis Walsh, Billy McGuinness retorts by telling Linda Martin she has no place on the panel. A riled Linda Martin leaves her seat and approaches the audience telling Billy McGuinness,
You may not be used to dealing with women with brains, but I have a brain.
Once back in her seat, Linda Martin concludes,
Gobshite.
Can-linn featuring Kasey Smith is chosen to represent Ireland in the second Eurovision Song Contest semi-final held on 8 May 2014. They are mentored by Hazel Kaneswaran.
This episode of ‘The Late Late Show’ was broadcast on 28 February 2014. The presenter is Ryan Tubridy.
