Galway supermarket is one of the first in Ireland to offer an online shopping service.
After a busy day running a nursing home, the last thing Aideen Stanley wants to do is grocery shopping. Fortunately for her and other consumers in the west of Ireland, Hughes Supermarket in Claregalway offers the option of Internet grocery shopping. The new service comes with home delivery in Galway City and locations within five miles of the supermarket.
From the comfort of her home study, Aideen Stanley places a grocery order from her personal computer, confident it will arrive in a very short time,
It takes all the hardship out of shopping.
Supermarket owner Michael Hughes says the interest in their online supermarket shopping service has surpassed all expectations. Less surprised by its popularity is Robert Headon, part of the team responsible for putting Hughes Supermarket online. Given the figures for internet shopping in the United States, what surprises him most is that Dublin supermarkets are not rushing to engage in online shopping,
It is quite an achievement that the small village here in Claregalway can do that.
