The atmosphere is electrifying at the Savoy in Cork for the final of the first ever All-Ireland 'Opportunity Knocks' talent competition.

The final of the first-ever All-Ireland ‘Opportunity Knocks’ talent completion is being staged at the Savoy in Cork. Promoter Donie Cassidy is proud to be putting on the show,

It is the biggest evening of my life.

Earlier shows presented by RTÉ broadcaster Donncha Ó Dúlaing selected ten acts for the All-Ireland ‘Opportunity Knocks’ final. They are The Una Larkin Dancers, Pauric Brown, Michael Lynch, Joy Starr, The Northern Swing Big Band, The Morrisseys, Ricky Linden Magic Show, The Cowhie Dancers, LiI Smith and Five-O.

This is a great occasion to find new talent.

Also arriving at the Savoy is Mullingar singer Joe Dolan who divulges he is to travel to Russia shortly.

Viewers will vote by postcard to decide the wining act who will receive the ‘Sunday World’ trophy and a cash prize courtesy of Fiat. The winner is to be announced on the ‘Late Late Show’ on 16 December 1978.
