The Sam Maguire Cup joins The Saw Doctors on stage at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

On 27 September Galway beat Kildare in the All Ireland Senior Football Final bringing the Sam Maguire Cup back to the county for the first time since 1966.

Two weeks later the Saw Doctors from Tuam in County Galway play a sold out concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The concert coincides with the release of the band's fourth studio album 'Songs from Sun Street’. It is attended by

Saw Doctors fans from many parts of Ireland who graciously granted that last night like the All-Ireland day belonged to the Tribes.

During the encore The Saw Doctors perform ‘Maroon and White Forever’ a song composed by lead guitarist Leo Moran in honour of Galway winning the All-Ireland final.

To the surprise of the capacity crowd of 6,000, the Sam Maguire Cup is carried on stage by the Galway manager John O’Mahony. He is followed by Galway players John Divilly and Derek Savage and substitutes Kevin Farrell and Damien Mitchell.

Secretary of the Galway Supporters Club Dympna Burke negotiated with the GAA to bring the Sam Maguire Cup to England.
