Transatlantic flights to and from Ireland disrupted by largest electricity blackout in US and Canadian history.

An area of north American from Toronto to Ohio was directly affected by a mass power outage which also had an impact on international travel.

After a night of delays, passengers from Toronto and New York finally arrived at Dublin Airport.

Outbound passengers from Dublin to Toronto were also affected when their flight was cancelled. People hoping to travel complain about the lack of information from airlines and airport authorities.

We heard rumours there are flights going to Calgary which is on our way home but we don't know anything yet.

A number of Aer Lingus transatlantic flights to and from Dublin and Shannon were disrupted resulting in delays. Much of this backlog has now been cleared.

The after-effects of last night's events in the US and Canada were felt by passengers throughout the day here at Dublin Airport.

The cause of the blackout is as yet unknown.
