The board of the Soroptimists International Association convenes in Ireland for the first time.
Board members of the Soroptimists International Association are meeting over a week at the Hibernian Hotel. The purpose of the organisation is to raise concerns over the challenges facing professional and business women throughout the world. The organisation is non-denominational, non-political and democratic.
Marian Stallard, president of the Soroptomists International Association, outlines the objectives of the organisation.
We're interested in human rights where these are lacking and we're interested too in education for women and in promoting good will and understanding through all the countries in the world where we have clubs.
The Soroptimists International Association is an umbrella organisation with clubs in 43 countries. Marian Stallard says that this week's discussions are not so much concerned with the internal organisation but rather with their objectives for the future and how they can attract younger women to participate.
