After disbanding The Blades, Paul Brady formed The Partisans with guitarist Conor Brady, who also played with The Blades in their final days. Since the break-up of The Blades, Paul Cleary has worked with Ray Lynam writing and producing country music.

In 1987 Paul Cleary and The Partisans released a mini album ‘Impossible’ on Hotwire Records featuring their debut single ‘I'm Doing Fine’. A second single ‘Open Your Eyes’ was released in 1988. In 1989 The Partisans released the single ‘Different Dance’ on their own Trap record label.
