Joan Denise Moriarty the woman behind The Cork Ballet Company celebrating 25 years.
Joan Denise Moriarty was an Irish ballet dancer, choreographer and teacher of ballet and was a key figure in the establishment of ballet in Ireland. She also founded the Cork Ballet Company in 1947.
We, The Cork Ballet Company have been in existence for twenty five years.
Miss Moriarty is pictured in a recording studio providing a narration on the history of the Cork Ballet Company. While it has been a struggle at times, Miss Moriarty says that anything worth achieving has to be worked for and ballet is no exception.
Before the establishment of the Cork Ballet Company, there was no tradition of ballet in Cork. This changed with the establishment of the Cork Ballet Company. Miss Moriarty describes the hard work that goes into becoming a dancer.
It's work, work, work, all the time and that's what it has been for twenty five years.
The hard work ends with a glamorous production before the work begins on the studio floor all over again on the next production.
