Plenty of ideas for holidays on show at the first Holiday World exhibition in Dublin.
The Holiday and Leisure Fair runs for six days at the RDS in Dublin giving the public an insight into hundreds of holiday options available.
Holiday firms and countries compete for a share of the lucrative tourism market with demonstrations of music and dance from their respective regions. The fair is organised by Irish Trade and Technical Exhibitions Limited and provides the public with everything they need to know about holidaying at home or abroad. Visitors to the fair can choose destinations as far afield as Kenya and Wales.
Speaking at the event, Minister for Tourism and Transport Thomas J Fitzpatrick comments on the vital role that tourism plays in economies around the world.
All the major airlines and ferry services are represented at the show. According to the organisers of the fair, there is something to suit all pockets and tastes.
This year, about 150,000 people will be jetting or sailing out of this country. A further two million will be thinking of home holidays.
