Publishing is a tough business and competition is fierce explains Gergory Delaney of Rant Magazine.

Greg Delaney of Rant magazine wanted to produce a publication packaged in a more unusual way that covers cinema, theatre, art and fashion.

Rant is influenced more by international publications such as Andy Warhol's 'Interview' magazine, and 'The Manipulator' which is based in Dusseldorf. The target audience is people who want Irish content alongside international content presented in a different and interesting way.

If we're compared to In Dublin, I'll know we've failed.

The large print format style of Rant is influenced by publications across Europe and in New York. So far, the magazine has received an incredible amount of support from the fashion and arts establishment in Ireland. As yet they have not had support from the big retail chains such as Easons who have described the magazine as, dull, cumbersome and boring.

An isue of Rant costs about £5,000 to produce and this is funded by advertising. None of the contributors get paid. With three issues due to be published before Christmas, Greg Delaney is confident that Rant magazine will survive.
