The work of actors past and present recognised at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin.
At a ceremony in the foyer of the Abbey Theatre a plaque is unveiled to honour actors who have given distinguished service to the Irish National Theatre and nominates them as honorary members of the company. Among those honoured are Cyril Cusack, Ray McAnally, Jack MacGowran, Siobhán McKenna, TP McKenna, Micheál Mac Liammóir, Ria Mooney, Denis O'Dea, Shelagh Richards, and Arthur Shields.
We playwrights can only thank these players, who have given us the delight of seeing our work so well performed.
The plaque was unveiled by actor Eric Gorman. Managing Director of the Abbey Theatre Ernest Blythe, theatre critic Gabriel Fallon and actress Siobhán McKenna.
