Frank Hall stands on a deserted country road waiting for a bus to the village of Effin in County Limerick. The only visible traffic is a tractor pulling a trailer with two passengers heading towards the town of Kilmallock.
Frank Hall checks to his watch to see if it is working before exclaiming,
I'm sick and sore waiting for the Effin bus.
With no sign of a bus coming, he concedes defeat, setting off on foot in the direction of Charleville , County Cork.

Regarded as RTÉ’s flagship comedy show, it featured satirical sketches on current news stories and popular culture, as well as parody songs, comedy sketches, re-edited videos, cartoons and spoof television formats. The programme ran for 9 series until 1980.
