In approaching mixed media, John Fitzmaurice Mills warns that you should never mix oils and acrylics but anything else goes. Breaking from traditional approaches to making art can give unexpected results. He gives examples of using water colours with pens, crayon and linseed oil, printmaking using monotype and painting.
