What will the people of Dublin give up for the forty days of fasting and abstinence during Lent?

As lent approaches RTÉ News took to the streets of Dublin to find out what sacrifices people, young and old, plan to make during the season of fasting and sacrifice. Lenten intentions include refraining from the consumption of sweets, chocolates, sugar, biscuits, cigarettes, alcohol, tea, coffee, milk, and biting your nails.

Sweets and chocolates and cakes and biscuits.

One man feels he has nothing to give up as he does not drink or smoke or eat sweets.

One young woman plans to give up boys and another woman plans to abstain from sex.

Most of the smokers plan to give up smoking but are not optimistic about staying off them.
