Public sector workers demonstrate against cuts announced by the government in the budget.

Dublin based teachers, nurses, firefighters and civil servants turned up in their hundreds to voice their objections to the pay cuts announced in the budget and now being debated in Dáil Éireann. which will see public service salaries reduced by between five and fifteen per cent.

One fireman says he his protesting for his friends and colleagues who are experiencing hardship as a result of decisions made by the government. 

Sheila Nunan of the Irish National Teachers' Organisation addressed the protest.

The 9th of December is a day that will live in infamy and we will not forget.

David Begg of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) describes how public service workers have been subjected to a campaign of incitement to hatred. He added that if that campaign had been carried out on the basis of race, gender or ethnic group, it would have been illegal.
