James Fox and Tom Courtenay talk about making The Old Curiosity Shop prior to the burning of one of the most expensive film sets ever built in Ireland.
The Old Curiosity Shop starring James Fox and Tom Courtenay is based on the Charles Dickens novel set in 19th century England but filmed in Ardmore Studios County Wicklow.
The climax of the film is a huge fire on the edge of the River Thames, so with much trepidation, the elaborate set was torched. The inferno was all in the name of movie-making and the fire brigade was on hand just in case things got out of hand.
The work of sixty four county Wicklow craftsmen going up in smoke and flames.
