Thousands attend a rally and march in Dublin city centre in support of the Maze Prison hunger strikers.
Protesters attend a rally on O'Connell Street outside the General Post Office followed by a march to Leinster House where a letter was delivered. The marchers continued to the Garden of Remembrance where they lay six wreaths to commemorate the six dead hunger strikers.
The protestors chant,
Unlock H-Blocks and Armagh
Garret Out
Maggie Out
Hunger strike supporters travelled from north and south of the border to attend the rally. They are heavily monitored by Gardaí in an attempt to avoid any confrontation.
Brendan O'Brien asks Bernadette McAliskey why protesters will march past the Dáil and if the H Block committee supports the institutions of the State like the Dáil and the Gardaí. McAliskey replies by asking if the institutions of the State support the prisoners.
