Dublin Corporation hope to transform many ugly derelict sites in Dublin city with art designs.

When murals on Greendale Community School in Kilbarrack caught the eye of Dublin Corporation, the pupils were selected for a pilot project to brighten up a wall at Kilbarrack railway station with their artwork. If the pilot project is a success, the Corporation plans to have murals painted on walls in drab, derelict sites around Dublin. The Arts Council is also interested in promoting murals in schools and communities throughout the city.

Dermot Carney of Dublin Corporation, who are providing finance for the project, talks to RTÉ News about the proposal. They are seeking additional financial assistance from private industry and banking groups.
