Creating art works to brighten up dreary spaces across Dublin.
When murals on Greendale Community School in Kilbarrack caught the eye of Dublin Corporation, the pupils were selected for a pilot project to brighten up a wall at Kilbarrack railway station with their artwork. If the pilot project is a success the plan is to have murals painted on walls in drab, derelict sites around Dublin. The Arts Council is also interested in promoting murals in schools and communities throughout the city.
Dermot Carney outlines how financial supports the project has received from businesses and financial institutions, as well as community based fundraising initiatives have helped efforts to brighten up the area. Permission is required to carry out these murals from Dublin Corporation.
