Derry boxer Charlie Nash in training ahead of his fight against Spain's Francisco Leon for the European Lightweight Boxing title.

RTÉ News went to see "the star of the show for Irish spectators" Charlie Nash in training at Drimnagh Boxing Club in the hope of winning back the title. Commenting on the fight Nash says

I look upon it as a stepping stone towards another shot at the world title.

Francisco Leon's manager also spoke to RTÉ News.

The fight was held at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin with an attendance of 600 people on 14 December 1980. Charlie Nash took back the title as Lightweight European Champion, which he had lost the previous year.
