Cathal O'Shannon goes to Cork to retake his driving test in this ‘Newsbeat’ report.

Reporter Cathal O'Shannon, a driver with 20 years experience, agrees to take a simulated driving test under the watchful eye of Denis Murphy. Before they set off around the streets of Cork City, O'Shannon answers some questions about the Rules of the Road in the grounds of the Car Club.

When can you legally drive past a red light?

During the test, O'Shannon's numerous faults include coasting down a hill, crossing over the lanes of traffic, driving on the wrong side of the road, mounting the footpath and breaking the speed limit.
