Dublin overcome Laois resistance in Navan to reach the Leinster football final.
Almost 30,000 supporters were in Páirc Tailteann in Navan to see Dublin beat a stubborn Laois team in the Leinster Football Championship semi final. Laois threatened from the very opening of the game when Damien Delaney got through on goal only to pull his shot wide. Jason Sherlock came closest to getting the game's first goal when his shot hit the post and then hit a Laois defender before finally being cleared. At half time the sides were level at five points each.
The game remained tight in the second half with only fourteen minutes remaining Dublin were two points ahead. Jason Sherlock caught a long pass from substitute Jim Gavin, in turning his marker the young forward lost his boot but still managed to score the only goal of the game.
The final score was Dublin 1-13 Laois 0-09. The highlights shown here are taken from The Sunday Game broadcast 9 July 1995. The commentator is Marty Morrissey.
