The phenomenon of roller discos is synonymous with the 1980s. However, it's not all fun and games. This RTÉ News report from 30 June 1980 looks at roller discos and their associated dangers.

The Roller Disco Syndrome is the latest illness to hit hospitals. Dr. Matthew Corcoran of Saint Colmcille's in Loughlinstown treats more rollers than rugby players. Dr Corcoran says that for those with little or no experience of roller skating there are a number of potential dangers.
