On 17 July 1969 Father Eamonn Casey was appointed the Bishop of Kerry.
In an interview with RTÉ News, 42-year-old Casey speaks about the responsibility of his new position.
Kerry-born Fr Casey succeeded Bishop Denis Moynihan of Kerry who according to Casey has
served the diocese in such a princely and committed fashion.
Casey held the position as Bishop of Kerry until 1976 when he was appointed Bishop of Galway.
Casey was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Limerick on 17 June 1951.
