On UNESCO World Book and Copyright Day and to coincide with ‘Dublin: One City One Book', RTÉ Archives look back to 1988 with distinguished writer and author of 'Strumpet City' James Plunkett in conversation with Padraic O'Raghallaigh.

O'Raghallaigh refers to Strumpet City as Plunkett’s “magnum opus”. O'Raghallaigh and Plunkett discuss the background to Strumpet City, Plunkett's dealings with the publishers, his connection with Jim Larkin, and the "abiding heroism" of the people of Dublin. They also discuss Denis Johnston’s 'Old Lady Says No!' the inspiration and source for the title 'Strumpet City'.

Recorded in September 1998 and produced by Mary Corcoran, the programme was broadcast RTÉ Radio on 19 December 1988.

'Strumpet City' is the chosen book for 'Dublin: One City, One Book' for the month of April 2013.
