A 25-year-old Irish woman charged with the murder of her fiancé in Australia is now expected to appear in court next Wednesday.

Cathrina Cahill chose not to appear via video link at Parramatta local court today, her lawyer said, saying she was too distressed to do so.

Ms Cahill is now due before Burwood local court during the week.

Her 29-year-old fiancé David Walsh was stabbed to death outside his home in the residential suburb of Padstow, near Sydney, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Mr Walsh, who is also known as Daithy, was originally from Co Wexford.
