Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery at a post office in Gorey, Co Wexford, this afternoon.

Three men, believed to be armed with a firearm, sledge hammer and a pick-axe handle entered the post office in Kilanerin, Gorey, and threatened staff and demanded cash.

A female member of staff was assaulted during the robbery. She received minor injuries.

The culprits fled the scene, in the direction on Tinahely, Co Wicklow, with a small amount of cash in a grey coloured, Land Rover Sport, with a partial registration of 151 D.

A burnt-out vehicle was later located at Clonegal, Co Carlow. This vehicle has been seized by gardaí for a technical examination.
