A man in his 40s, who was arrested in connection with the death of a man found with serious injuries in Waterford on Christmas Day, has been released without charge.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Agnius Naumovas, who was from Lithuania but had been living at Francis Street in the city, was found on Margaret's Avenue at around 8pm on Christmas Day.

The 29-year-old was taken to Waterford University Hospital, where his injuries were described as serious.

Mr Naumovas died on Wednesday evening.
