A man in his 60s has been arrested in connection with the abduction and disappearance of Charles Brooke Pickard in Co Kerry in 1991.
The 43-year-old was abducted from Castlecove on the Ring of Kerry on 26 April 1991.
A man who is suspected of being part of the gang who abducted Mr Brooke Pickard was arrested yesterday evening and is currently being held at Killarney Garda Station.
The man is based in the North but is known to travel south of the border. He was arrested in Co Kilkenny in a planned garda operation.
It is the first arrest made in the investigation in more than 25 years.
Earlier this year gardaí carried out a three-week dig at a site at Derrennageeha, Ballaghisheen Pass, Waterville, Co. Kerry.
They said new information led them to begin excavating a site to close to where Mr Brooke Pickard's van was found.
Mr Brooke Pickard and his wife Penny moved to Ireland from England in the mid-1980s and bought a farm and old farmhouse in Castlecove to start a new life for their family.
He had four young children at the time of his disappearance.
On 26 April 1991, he was due to go cutting turf with a friend.
However, several people witnessed Mr Brooke Pickard being abducted by up to five men close to his home before he was driven away in his navy Ford Transit van.
Three weeks later, his van was found burned out at Shronaloughnane Forest, off a back road connecting Waterville and Glencar.
