The man had pleaded guilty to four charges of filming his brother while he was sexually abusing a six-year-old disabled boy, who is his brother's son.
The offences occurred in Co Tipperary two years ago.
Judge Teehan said the child had suffered greatly from these heinous acts and their aftermath.
The judge said it was difficult to imagine a more extreme example of such violations of his privacy.
The man before him was in a position of trust of his nephew and this was a case with extreme aggravating factors, said the judge.
The court heard Judge Teehan say that the gravity of the offences place it in the highest category but not at the top - as the main perpetrator was the man's oldest brother who was carrying out the heinous acts.
He said the 27-year-old had been abused and the acts in some way act as a mirror image as to what happened to him but that is in no way to excuse his actions.
In mitigating circumstances, the judge said he was taking into account the man's guilty plea, that he has no previous convictions, that he has co-operated with the gardaí and that he has been a model prisoner since he went into custody in March of last year.
Judge Teehan handed down a ten-year sentence for each of the four charges of child abuse material, with each sentence to run concurrently, and he suspended the final two years.
He ordered that the man has no access to computers on his release.
Yesterday the court heard how the man had filmed his older brother sexually abusing his nephew.
