The prosecution said the events leading to the killing of Mr Creighton began at around 4am on New Year's Day in Tallaght when a girl was heard to shout her phone had been stolen and someone shouted "grab him!"

Mr Creighton was then pursued by a number of people including, the prosecution says, by James Reid.

Mr Creighton was caught at the footbridge over the Tallaght bypass and attacked. The area was covered by CCTV cameras.

Senior Counsel Sean Gillane told the court that David Burke, then Ross Callery arrived, followed by Aisling Burke, Jason Beresford, Gerard Stevens and Graham Palmer.

The footage shown today in court showed Mr Creighton lying on the bridge, being held up by Palmer and kicked in the head by Beresford, being dragged up and down the steps of the footbridge, kicked by Ross Callery and slapped by Gerard Stevens.

David Burke and Aisling Burke were also there. The court heard Aisling Burke's runners were soaked in blood.

Witnesses from a nearby apartment block called an ambulance and the gardaí, and a garda in Tallaght adjusted the CCTV camera which recorded the attack.

By the time gardaí arrived, Mr Creighton was lying on the ground, bleeding from his eyes, nose and mouth, unable to speak and struggling to breathe.

He never regained consciousness and died in hospital the next day. Those on the bridge ran off.

The seven are Aisling Burke, 23, and David Burke, 28, both with a current address at Beechpark, Collinstown, Co Westmeath. She has pleaded guilty to violent disorder; he admitted manslaughter.
